About the position
We are hiring a Director OR Senior Account Manager to manage our current refined oil business and expand throughout the US. For his or her customers, this person will be the internal customer champion who will help manage customer price risk, credit, supply chain and technical projects both within ADM and with our customers. We are looking for the best candidate and can tailor the position/title to his or her background and qualifications. The sales organization is a vital group at ADM and we are looking for an innovative, self-driven individual that can identify growth opportunities and industry trends.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage current key accounts while developing new prospects to increase sales and profits of the Refined Oils Division
- Manage and negotiate sales to direct key accounts
- Research, identify and develop strategies to increase sales. Candidates must be skilled at questioning, probing, negotiating and acting in a timely manner during all stages of the sales process
- Develop and coordinate sales plans for new and existing accounts
- Work closely with Commercial Management, Transportation & Supply Chain, Technical Services, Credit and Customer Service to meet customer needs and business goals
- Responsible for business development—translate customer needs, identify and close technical and supply chain gaps to create value
- Responsible for prospecting and growing of new and existing customers.
- Responsible for sales forecasting, contract processes, contract maintenance, execution, etc.
- Other duties as required
- Dotted line management of 2 account managers in the group
- Participation in higher level strategic discussions with group leadership
- Responsibility for strategic and key accounts
- Increased involvement in industry conferences and trade shows
- Potential for increased travel with junior colleagues as guide/mentor
- Sales and/or merchandising experience. A food industry background is a plus.
- Thrive in a fast paced environment and adjust priorities as needed
- Excellent communication, attention to details, negotiation and closing skills
- Ability to build long-term, sustainable business to business relationships within both internal and external organizations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential in order to develop relationship with customers
- Demonstrated negotiation skills along with the capacity to excel within high risk, fast paced work environment
- Able to identify the decision makers at target accounts quickly while continuing to cultivate relationship with all levels of the customer organization
- Good organizational, planning and follow-up skills as well as the ability to work as a team player
- Accountability and ethics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required
- Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree, 5 or more years of commercial experience—sales, marketing, business development
- Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation
- Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements
- Candidate must be willing to travel within the USA to call on new and existing customers
- 20% travel is possible with some overnight travel expected
