Continuous Improvement Supervisor – West Plant- Decatur, IL
This is an exempt level position.
Job Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Supervisor has influence on the safe, efficient and sustainable operation of the West Plant facility. The focus of this position is to improve the performance of their process while using the tools provided by the ADM Performance Excellence process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist West Complex plant personnel (operators, technicians, supervisors) with the strategies to collect, analyze and interpret relevant data to develop a loss landscape for the purpose of prioritizing resources and focus.
- Partner with department leadership to determine short, medium and long term plans to mitigate and eliminate the causes of losses in all aspects of their process.
- Continuously apply Performance Excellence tools in efforts to contribute to the continuous improvement and readiness of the facility.
- Develop pillar champions for all pillar teams
- Support efforts to implement technology and practices to reduce contamination, increase efficiency and yield and increase utilization of idle equipment
- Provide training, mentoring, and transfer knowledge to colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Provide feedback to colleagues regarding effective operations and performance
- Understand their role in food safety and quality systems, is actively engaged in plant and food safety efforts, and ensures conformance to good manufacturing practices
- Support the department as a backup operations champion
- Audit the process daily for accountability with PE activities and have discussions with operators and supervisors
- Track the daily/weekly/monthly PE metrics and assessments
- Fill in as needed for department coverage on nights/weekends/holidays
- Develop and implement high-priority issue mitigation plans.
- Assist with the development and execution of plans to bring colleague skills to a level of proficiency that translates into improved process operation and results.
- Follows and incorporates all safety, quality and site rules while performing work and crafting training processes
- Read and utilize plant documentation including Process Manuals, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Permits, etc.
- Conduct training needs analyses
- Support the design and development of training materials and assessments along with learning/certification plans.
- Deliver learning content for classroom and field training as well as develop others to do the same.
- Facilitate written and performance assessments as well as vital remediation plans.
- Provide effective feedback and mentoring
- Develop and support a system for maintaining training records and data.
- Analyze surveys, assessments, field audits and key performance impacts to determine training efficiency.
- Three or more years of experience in an ADM operating facility preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work across functions
- Creative/analytical problem solving skills and innovative ways to resolve complex problems
- Strong root cause analysis experience
- Experience with Value Stream Mapping and working to find efficiencies in process.
- Strong TPM background
- Willingness to learn and develop Pi Process-book pages
- Demonstrated strength with trouble-shooting activities
- Strong Microsoft office skills such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio and PiVision
- Minimum of a high school diploma/GED
- Able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, such as hot and cold temperatures and a dusty environment & various chemical safely.

- Bending and Kneeling
- Be respirator qualified
