Director Asset Reliability, Predictive Analytics – Decatur, Erlanger, Des Moines, or Beach Grove- Indianapolis
ADM is seeking a Director Asset Reliability and Predictive Analytics to help drive improvements in asset performance related to unscheduled losses with an increased focused on planned, proactive and predictive maintenance strategies. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is passionate about safety, a critical thinker, proven people leader, and effective communicator. He/she will also have experience in the end-to-end processes related to Reliability and Maintenance best practices within a large processing operation with multi-site responsibilities at the corporate level.
This position has multiple priorities across our sizeable asset footprint in different geographies and will collaborate with Regional Directors, Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers, other business leaders and peers across the company to create, implement and execute an enterprise-wide reliability program to drive a culture of improved asset performance. The successful individual will help develop the predictive asset heath and analytics framework, guide the technology stack development for acquiring asset condition & health, and developing the optimal strategies to maintain while ensuring the most cost-efficient use of cash to meet sustainable asset performance goals. He/she will ensure that these strategies are implemented consistently in the CMMS and continuously improved.
The role will be responsible for building the right capabilities, supporting our engagement strategies with sites, and identifying the key roles needed at our focus sites for successful execution of our strategies and plans. The role is expected to “move the needle” and drive significant and sustainable improvements in equipment reliability while optimizing cost and managing risk.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage a team of senior reliability professionals that support regional directors to accelerate and deliver on asset performance goals.
- Partner with regional directors and performance excellence teams in improving asset downtime and our production loss accounting & reporting systems.
- Develop reliability processes and practices in inline ADM asset management process elements to support the review and analysis of asset performance data and maintenance history to identify trends, predict failures, and directs improvement plans to close gaps.
- Collaborate with and guide maintenance and operations teams to develop and refine preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Provide technical support and expertise to the operations and maintenance teams on troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
- Develop and improve the root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies for core, common and critical equipment failures, identify corrective actions, and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate Key Performance Indicators to track reliability performance across the multiple business units.
- Assess our install based of assets and develop statistical risk-based approaches to help inform our asset reinvestment plans and associated capital expenditures.
- Develop and support continuous improvement projects with the CAPEX team aimed at reducing downtime, improving equipment safety, and increasing the reliability of plant operations.
- Owns the defect elimination and process and helps in upskilling site and regional reliability teams in its use and application.
- Ensures that the right asset health programs are in place and followed.
- Sets up Design for Reliability (D4R) and early equipment management processes.
- Partner with peers in the Technical Excellence Centers, BU partners and site in developing and rolling out annual budgeting processes that is informed by asset condition, asset performance and business requirements.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and training to all levels of the organization on the use and application of reliability best practices and related tools.
- Create and maintain a preventive and predictive maintenance program to minimize unplanned downtime, maximize equipment useful life and enhance overall plant efficiency.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- 12+ years’ progressive experience in experience in the reliability field with at least 5 years in a corporate leadership role, ideally with oversight over multiple processing plants.
- Area Technical Expert in reliability with focus on defect elimination and asset performance management processes and practices
- Strong knowledge of reliability principles, tools, and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, RCFA, RCM, PMO)
- Demonstrated knowledge use and application of Life Data Analysis and other statistical tools to determine reliability improvement opportunities.
- Previous experience with deploying predictive technologies for asset health monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train reliability professionals.
- Ability to articulate both technical and business challenges and their solutions, as it relates to asset reliability.
- Previous management experience in union or non-unionized environment.
- Demonstrated ability to create collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and complex projects and priorities, ability to pivot when priorities change.
- Effective communication skills, ability to produce and deliver presentations to senior management.
- Proven decision-making quality and drive for results. Must exhibit managerial courage.
- Problem-solving, communication and influencing skills- including the ability to lead change through others.
- Leadership skills to inspire, engage and motivate – including the ability to paint a vision and operationalize a strategy to achieve it.
- Travel to operating facilities as needed (approximately 20%)
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
- Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP)
- Master’s degree in Reliability Engineering or MBA
