Technology Engineer, Program Aurora – North America
This is an exempt level position

Position Summary:
The Technology Engineer will apply engineering principles to new and existing facilities with tasks ranging from process design to the evaluation/implementation of new technologies. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure the specific definition and design to support plant automation modernization and ensure alignment with ADM standards, best practices, and design standardization across all plants within Oilseeds.
This is a key position for successful implementation of the roll-out of a high-profile global project. The ADM Modernization Program [Program Aurora] is an ADM Operations Initiative to modernize our strategic facilities through Automation and Optimization. Utilizing technology and ADM expertise, we will reduce unplanned downtime, support safety initiatives, increase OEE and standardize our processes across our business units. The Program is an enabler for ADM’s Digital Transformation.
This position will support multiple locations throughout North America and require up to 20% of time spent travelling to those locations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides technical requirements for process operability in automation solution.
  • Provides appropriate ADM standards and best practices for equipment specifications and process design & layout.
  • Evaluates Class of Plant to meet project objectives and drives process design to the lowest cost option (Minimum Technical Solution) to deliver project objectives.
  • Participates in alignment of project scope, reviews engineering and construction proposals and approves project technical documentation for their area of technical expertise.
  • Participate in weekly meetings for critical info, decisions, risks, and issues
  • Identify, mitigate, and escalate project risks, issues, and decisions needed.
  • Participates in development of control narratives to meet project objectives.
  • Gatekeeper / Owner of appropriate technical documents, especially P&IDs.
  • Provides appropriate technical requirements and project scope technical inputs
  • Leads, Participates and provides input for cross-functional review and approval of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Reviews and approves project budget and schedule for their area of expertise.
  • Reviews, approves and participates in commissioning/start-up plan for their area of expertise.
  • Participates in all appropriate project team meetings, risks workshops and other project related meetings.
  • Participates in all FAT software testing and technology training, both as student and as mentor.
  • Participates, provides input, and approves financial calculations and benchmarks of performance.
  • Participates as process SME to ensure automation integrator fully understands how ADM would like the process to operate.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate COE’s to ensure alignment of technology.
  • Explore, propose and/or champion new process technologies and equipment suppliers.
  • Work within the Global Technology Center to standardize operations, share standard methodologies and implement new technologies.
  • Assist plant operations in solving applicable technical problems.
Required Skills:
  • Dedication to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of others.
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of process unit operations in Oilseeds. Some examples include: extraction, extrusion, evaporation, drying, grinding and centrifugation.
  • Experience with optimization/analytical processes and automation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with plant engineers and management.
  • Working knowledge of common process drawings and documentation, such as P&IDs and control narratives.
  • Willingness to spend time in plant areas.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently while traveling to remote plant locations.
  • High level of motivation and results-oriented way of working.
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in the fields of Engineering, Automation Control Systems, Food Processing, Production Manufacturing, or Technology.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with plant operations/process systems.
Desired Experience:
  • Operations supervision and/or Process/Project Engineer.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$72,900.00 - $136,200.00

Salaried Incentive Plan

The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus
