Maintenance Technician - Decatur, IL
Position Summary:
The primary focus of the role is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of HVAC/R systems and kitchen equipment. The technician will:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC/R and kitchen equipment in the Decatur area, with occasional support for Erlanger, KY, and Chicago, IL.
- Assist in the installation of systems for new construction, remodels, and retrofits.
The role requires physical endurance and adaptability:
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or stairs.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed.
- Work in adverse weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, or inclement weather.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle in a work environment.
- At least five years of experience in HVAC/R systems and maintenance.
The role involves a wide range of technical tasks and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
HVAC/R Systems:
- Diagnose and repair HVAC/R systems using Building Automation Software.
- Install and upgrade HVAC/R systems as part of construction or retrofit projects.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC components, such as pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and cooling towers.
- Repair and install kitchen appliances and equipment.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as replacing filters and belts, cleaning, and testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment in the field.
- Maintain accurate records of refrigerant usage.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs and installations (e.g., domestic water, refrigeration).
- Construct and install ductwork.
- Be available for on-call shifts during evenings and weekends.
- Perform additional tasks such as snow removal and operating a forklift as needed.
The candidate must have expertise in:
- Electricity and electrical circuits.
- Thermodynamic properties of refrigerants and refrigeration systems.
- Proper use of tools and pipe fitting.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
$46,900.00 - $86,500.00
