Associate Director, Offshore Engineering Services - Decatur, IL

This is a full-time, exempt position.

Position Summary:

The Associate Director - Offshore Engineering Services, leads the strategic planning, management, and delivery of all offshore engineering services for ADM globally.

This role requires the successful candidate to be a self-starter, who is comfortable working with uncertainty and ambiguity as he/she established the offshore team. The role will be responsible for building engineering capabilities offshore for ADM in the short and long term to augment and/or expand existing in-house engineering capabilities.

In the short term, the role will be responsible for setting up an Outsource Delivery Center (ODC) for core engineering services and liaising with the 3rd party offshore engineering teams, to ensure successful execution of ADM’s engineering program. The in the long term the role will ensure a smooth and successful transition to a Global Capabilities Center (GCC) model with the co-location of the offshore Engineering Services team with other ADM functions under one-roof.

The Associate Director- Offshore Engineering Services will be responsible for driving technical excellence, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and fostering stakeholder relationships internally and externally to improve overall maturity and quality of delivery of the offshore engineering program.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and execute the overall strategy for the ADM’s Offshore Engineering Services, aligning with the company’s business goals and objectives
  • Set clear goals for the engineering team, ensuring alignment with broader organizational priorities and fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
  • Align with VP – Asset Management, Engineering & Projects and Onshore Engineering Services Director on priorities, performance measures, and issue resolution
  • Monitor engineering services needs by the business, assess and fill offshore location talent pool depth and specialization to meet those needs
  • Monitor industry trends and integrate new technologies and best practices into the ADM’s service offerings
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the offshore engineering services team, ensuring efficient project delivery and adherence to timelines and budgets
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Operations, Projects and Finance,) to ensure seamless project prioritization and execution
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the department meets performance, quality of delivery, and service level goals
  • Ensure projects comply with regulatory, safety, and quality standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high-level ADM client relationships related to offshore engineering services
  • Intact with Engineer, Projects and Operations Leaders to align on their engineering planning and priorities, pain points, and reporting requirements for their portfolios
  • Identify opportunities for expanding engineering services and develop resourcing and location strategies to grow the offshore team and scope of work
  • Lead and mentor a team of offshore engineering managers, technical leads, and engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture that fits ADM’s needs
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive working environment
  • Develop and manage the offshore engineering services department’s budget, including forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation
  • Conduct regular financial reviews to ensure program meets its Value (Cost + Quality + Time)
  • Ensure Engineering Services processes to enable engineering program/projects compliance with local and national regulations, safety standards, and ADM Engineering Services Ways of Working
  • Lead risk assessments and establish mitigation strategies to address technical, operational, and quality risks associated with engineering services
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency
  • Liaison with other multinational companies on offshore engineering best practices, lessons learned, and other tendencies in the market
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • English and native language fluency in offshore locations required
  • 12+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering or operations teams
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Strong computer experience and skills are preferred. Knowledge in Microsoft 365 applications, IBM, Maximo, Coupa, Wave, SAP, Spheracloud, and Sharepoint preferred
  • Collaborative and critical thinker, with the ability to driver and communicate change all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work successfully in a project focused, diverse global team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to work under pressure to meet established deadlines
  • International travel as needed to setup and sustain offshore engineering services capabilities

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$102,100.00 - $180,000.00

Salaried Incentive Plan

The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a long-term incentive plan
