About The Position

The DCO Engineer is responsible for Distribution and Sub-Transmission System Operations by evaluating the electric system reliability impact due to switching the system from abnormal configuration. This includes coordinating technical review and analysis with Ameren operations and the appropriate System Planning Engineering groups to assess the impact on the operation of the electric system and to plan for adequate electrical capacity and system voltages to serve Ameren Illinois customer load with acceptable reliability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establish and document uniform criteria and guidelines for planning and executing system switching configurations for the purpose of maintenance and construction projects.
  • To provide a convenient, well-documented guide for Ameren Distribution System Operation Supervisors

involved in performing system switching and reconfiguration.

  • To aid in the assessment of Ameren distribution and sub-transmission capability needed to meet potential distribution sub-transmission connection and delivery requests as well as its own native load requirements.

-Assist in restoration efforts.

-Assist to help evaluate and justify equipment replacement programs based upon engineering analysis.

-Provide technical information to construction and operating personnel, other departments, customers, and outside organizations.

-Contribute to the development and implementation of Distribution Control Operations, including providing input and support on advanced tools, technologies, and processes.

-Track and follow up on inoperable equipment.

-Assist and coordinate records updates (e.g. one line diagrams, system maps, etc.) and support requests for new device designations.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License is preferred. Eight or more years of electric utility distribution engineering experience required.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Knowledge of specific Ameren systems (e.g., ADMS, PSE) preferred.
