Job Summary:
At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble large mining and construction equipment. In this role as a Manufacturing Engineer, you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will work independently and as part of a team to address processes and systems used in manufacturing. As a member of the Battery Electric New Product team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
Analyze requirements and make recommendations for facility systems, processes, training, equipment needs, and engineering product designs
Complete both specialized and broad-based assignments / projects which may require collaboration and integration with other functions
Evaluate projects and prepare feasibility studies to define desired results, assess value proposition and determine project plans
Analyze, provide specifications and acquire new or replacement equipment
Perform capital forecasting correlation and reporting as it relates to new product introduction, product capacity increases, equipment replacement and continuous process improvement
Analyze the New Product’s impact to the current Value Stream metrics
Identify design solutions to address known Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost opportunities on the current product
Improve space utilization in manufacturing by driving RIOP Manufacturing strategies
Develop and implement fabrication processes in line with Caterpillar standard processes
What you will have:
Bachelor degree
5 years of manufacturing / fabrication experience
OR
10 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
Top Candidates will also have:
Experience fabricating Mining and Quarry Truck frames
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or manufacturing-related discipline
3 years of experience working on a Manufacturing Engineering team
Experience as a Manufacturing Engineer during New Product Introduction cycles
Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and customers
Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts
Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
Experience working in MES-A and CAPP+
Additional Information:
The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL
Domestic relocation assistance is not available
This position may require 10% travel
