Job Summary:


At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble large mining and construction equipment. In this role as a Supply Chain Planning Analyst, you will report to the Manager Supply Chain Planning, and will be primarily responsible for overseeing facility performance levels to corporate targets for improved order-to-delivery results. You will lead efforts to develop and implement the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and improved throughput efficiency. As a member of the Supply Chain team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:

  • Developing and implementing supply chain processes for manufacturing areas to ensure proper material flow from receipt to point of use.

  • Developing and maintaining the PFEP for 2,000 – 5,000 part numbers across manufacturing value streams.

  • Documenting processes, standard work, and PFEP into various planning tools. - Supporting the design and implementation of material packaging and container solutions for the facility.

  • Supporting performance efforts of manufacturing areas through continuous improvement processes, incident investigations and RCCA, resolving systemic supply chain related problems, etc...

  • Supporting cross-functional teams to improve Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost metrics

  • Analyzing flow optimization and utilizing multiple replenishment methods to improve material movement and reduce touches

What Skills you will have:

Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business related activities.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Gathers data for use in the analysis of business processes.
• Illustrates problems, opportunities and methods for improving existing business processes.
• Suggests ways to reduce variation and/or waste in processes.
• Helps evaluate what factors should be addressed in the change program.
• Participates in requirements analysis for process changes.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.
• Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects.
• Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.
• Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.
• Produces standard project status reports.

Supply Chain Management - MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
Level Working Knowledge:
• Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
• Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
• Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products or components.
• Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
• Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.

Education and Experience requirement:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university

    • In lieu of an Associate’s degree, 3+ years of Manufacturing experience

  • Knowledge of PFEP an material flow principles

  • Understanding of heavy equipment manufacturing procedures

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Self-starter, team oriented individual, Caterpillar systems experience

  • APIX Certification

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Microsoft Access experience and creating macros across the different Office platforms

  • Experience with the Caterpillar Production System, Six Sigma, Rapid Improvement Workshops, and Value Stream Transformation processes

  • Experience in the development and deployment of Supply Chain processes

  • A background in Supply Chain, Manufacturing/Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Management, Material Requirements Planning, Demand Management and/or Logistics

The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL
