Job Summary:

At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble large mining and construction equipment. In this role as a Manager Material Requirements Planning, you will report to the Supply Chain Performance Manager and will be primarily responsible for supervising the material planning and functions for the facility, ensuring material availability and POU availability, and drive disciplined inventory systems usage and collaboration with material suppliers. As a member of the Supply Chain team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:

  • Managing the environment of the inventory stock room is in line with requirements for each product.

  • Managing staffing, development, and performance management of materials management workers. Ensuring proper labor relations.

  • Defining and maintaining optimal inventory levels. Performing inventory analysis and making recommendations for stock levels.

  • Coordinating maintenance and support of inventory management software.

What skills you will have:

Information Capture:
• Enhances the processes and procedures used in the organization's records retention program.
• Uses detailed knowledge of records retention program to conduct training and/or meetings.
• Ensures that all exceptions and unusual circumstances are properly captured and reviewed.
• Coordinates and monitors the various steps involved in a records retention program.
• Helps others understand how the recording of information impacts other business units.
• Provides guidance in documenting pertinent information.

Planning:
• Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
• Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.
• Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
• Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.
• Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.
• Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking:
• Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks.
• Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process.
• Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact.
• Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives.
• Uses effective decision-making approaches such as consultative, command, or consensus.
• Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions.

Problem Solving:
• Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
• Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.
• Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.
• Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
• Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies.
• Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.

Supply Chain Management:
• Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
• Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
• Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
• Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products.
• Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
