JOB TITLE: Splash Cove - LifeguardLOCATION: Splash CoveCLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, Non-ExemptWAGE: $17.00/hour POSITION FOCUSThe lifeguard is responsible for providing safety to all patrons and enforcement of policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the Aquatic Facility during all open hours, which include, early mornings, weekdays, evenings and weekend hours. Candidates must pass the Ellis & Associates Lifeguard pre-test to be eligible for an interview:- Swim 100 yards using front crawl or breaststroke without resting- Feet first surface dive, retrieve a 10 pound brick from a depth of 13 feet- Tread water without using arms for 1 minute SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS- Accountable to the Aquatics Supervisor. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (partial)- Implement water emergency procedures.- Attend a minimum of 4 hours of in-service training each month.- Enforce all pool rules and any other rules assigned by the manager on duty.- Be prepared at all times to demonstrate rescue or first aid procedures.- Maintain clean and orderly locker/shower/changing areas. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES (partial)- Principles and standards of CPR, lifesaving and first aid.- Knowledge of pertinent safety precautions. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE (partial)- Minimum age of 16.- Ellis & Associates Lifeguard license or willing to obtain. HOURS (partial)- Varied hours, minimum of 20 hours/week during summer; overtime/night/weekend/holiday as required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT (partial)- Standing/sitting for sustained periods; lifting up to 25 lbs.; exposure to weather and pool chemicals. Decatur Park District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
