Decatur Park DistrictJob Description Job Title: Day Camp Bus DriverClassification: Seasonal, Non-exemptDepartment: DISC POSITION FOCUSSafely transport DISC Day Camp staff and campers to and from field trip locations for the Summer Day Camp program. Organize and direct staff and campers on the bus to keep it clean and safe throughout the day. Support the summer camp team to ensure a positive camp experience. SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS- Reports to the Summer Day Camp Director; day-to-day supervision from Assistant Directors. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (partial)- Inspect vehicle before and after each trip; check safety (tires, brakes, signals, etc.).- Follow planned routes/schedules; monitor fuel, mileage, passenger numbers.- Report delays, accidents, and emergencies; respond to situations.- Assist with loading/unloading; enforce conduct and safety rules; maintain a clean vehicle. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (partial)- Previous experience as a bus driver; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.- CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement required; clear background check and negative drug screen. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE (partial)- High school student/graduate or GED.- Experience supervising children preferred; must be 21 with a valid driver’s license to drive Park District vehicles; CPR/First Aid preferred. HOURS- Monday through Friday, 6 to 8 hours a day, with hours designated by the Day Camp Director.
