Decatur Park DistrictJob Description Job Title: Park Police OfficerDepartment: Park Police DepartmentReports To: Chief of Park PoliceFLSA Status: Non-ExemptSalary: $61,651.20 annual SUMMARYUnder direct supervision of the Chief of Park Police, patrols District properties to ensure the safety and security of park patrons, employees, property and equipment, and enforces park ordinances and state laws within the parks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS (partial)- Patrol by vehicle, bicycle, and/or foot; observe activities; take regulatory or preventative action.- Investigate complaints and disturbances; apprehend violators; issue summons; make arrests; prepare reports.- Perform traffic and crowd control; inspect facilities; report hazards; render first aid; proactive traffic enforcement.- Availability of 25 hours per month for additional security at special events; work weekends, evenings, holidays; varying shifts; share on-call duties. QUALIFICATIONS (partial)- Minimum two years law enforcement experience and training.- Must meet Illinois Law Enforcement physical fitness standards.- Active State of Illinois Law Enforcement Officer certification; good standing with ILETSB. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS (partial)- Frequent outside weather exposure; noise moderate.
