Decatur Park District - Job DescriptionJob Title: Part Time Animal Care InternDepartment: Scovill ZooReports To: Assistant Zoo DirectorFLSA Status: Non-ExemptWage: $15.00/hour POSITION SUMMARYManual labor combined with specialized knowledge to provide for the care of a variety of animals. Tasks relate to serving visitors and assisting with the general operation of the zoo. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESPerforms daily care of exotic and domestic animals (feeding, cleaning, behavior observation, enrichment, training, environment). Works with Curator and Keepers on animal management plans (diets, breeding, veterinary care, off-exhibit maintenance, exhibition). Requires careful attention to cleaning/disinfecting enclosures, observation and record keeping, catching/moving animals, implementing veterinarian directions, and planning/implementing animal training. Communicates with supervisors, peers, and maintenance personnel.
