Salary: $18.00-$24.00 per hour ($37,440-$49,920 annually, based on education and experience).

Overview:
Heritage Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated Safety Specialist with prior experience in security or safety roles. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our Decatur facilities.
Your Role:
As a Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment for staff, clients, and visitors. You will serve as the first responder to internal emergencies and collaborate closely with emergency personnel and Heritage staff to uphold safety standards.

As a Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment for staff, clients, and visitors. You will serve as the first responder to internal emergencies and collaborate closely with emergency personnel and Heritage staff to uphold safety standards.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct rounds to secure interior spaces of buildings
- Monitor sensitive areas during high-traffic times
- Enforce designated smoking areas on building exteriors
- Assist emergency personnel as needed
- Respond promptly to internal emergency codes
- Continuously monitor all floors for safety or security concerns
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with fellow safety team members and Heritage staff
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be firm yet compassionate
- Experience working with individuals with mental health or substance use challenges using trauma-informed approaches is highly recommended
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior security and/or safety experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance required
