Salary: $78,000 - $80,000

About the Role
Heritage Behavioral Health Center is seeking a Team Lead, LPHA Supervisor to provide clinical leadership and oversight to our team of reviewing Licensed Practitioners of the Healing Arts (LPHAs). This role ensures that diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, and related clinical documentation meet Illinois Rule 132/140, CCBHC, and medical necessity standards across Heritage’s continuum of care. The Team Lead, LPHA Supervisor supports practice-level decision making through case consultation, partners with leadership across clinical programs to maintain continuity of care for high-needs clients, and collaborates closely with Heritage’s Safety Team to address risk and ensure client and staff safety.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision, clinical leadership, and day-to-day oversight to the team of reviewing LPHAs, including workload assignment, quality monitoring, and timeliness of assessment reviews.
- Oversee the LPHA review of diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, and related clinical documentation to confirm diagnostic accuracy, medical necessity, and compliance with Illinois Rule 132/140 and CCBHC documentation standards.
- Facilitate and participate in case consultations with clinical staff across programs, offering guidance on complex presentations, differential diagnosis, level-of-care determinations, and treatment planning for high-acuity clients.
- Partner with directors and program managers across clinical service lines, including crisis services, residential recovery, outpatient, substance use, and youth and family programs, to coordinate continuity of care for high-needs clients moving between levels of care.
- Collaborate with Heritage’s Safety Team on the identification, review, and follow-up of client and staff safety concerns, including risk mitigation planning and post-incident clinical review.
- Track and report on LPHA review quality, accuracy, and turnaround time, providing coaching, feedback, and corrective guidance to reviewing LPHAs as needed.
- Participate in CQI activities related to assessment quality, diagnostic congruence, and clinical risk, in coordination with clinical leadership.
- Stay current on changes to Illinois Rule 132/140, CCBHC requirements, and DSM-5-TR diagnostic standards, and ensure the reviewing LPHA team is trained accordingly.
- Maintain own caseload of assessment reviews and case consultations as needed to support team coverage and timeliness.
Qualifications
- Must meet the definition of a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) under Illinois Rule 132, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
- Active, unrestricted Illinois licensure required.
- Minimum of three years of post-licensure clinical experience in behavioral health required, including experience completing diagnostic assessments and treatment plan reviews.
- Prior supervisory, lead, or team coordination experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria, medical necessity standards, and Illinois Rule 132/140 documentation requirements.
- Strong skills in clinical case consultation, risk assessment, and crisis-related decision making.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple clinical programs and with the Safety Team on shared client care and risk concerns.
- A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance are required.
