This position will be the initial point of contact for all customers that come to the Supervisor of Assessments Office. This position involves executing the department’s various property assessment functions and specifically the collection and analysis of assessment data and customer service. This position will go into the field as needed and gather all property record card information for the Supervisor of Assessments Office. This position is covered by the union contract.

General Responsibilities:

·        Greet all customers and assess their needs

·        In the absence of Deputy Assessor #2, unlock and open the front door and prepare the front counter computers at 8:30a.m. along with lock and shut the front door and shut down front counter computers at 4:30p.m.

·        Answer main phone line and direct calls

·        Assist and accept all forms submitted

·        Assist customers with general property tax questions

·        Measure, document, photograph, draw, and value all types of property in the field

·        Assess all mobile homes and correspond with the mobile home parks

·        Complete all essential forms and reports associated

·        Maintain all field equipment and report on deficiencies

·        Maintain/organize assessment process and work flow with Deputy Assessor #2 and Chief Deputy Assessor

·        Draw and value property in computer system

·        Other responsibilities as assigned Requirements:

A Certified Illinois Assessing Officers (CIAO) designation is preferred. This position requires a working knowledge of the real estate market and the Supervisor of Assessments laws, regulations, rules, and the property appeal process as established by state statute. Individual must be willing to attend and complete all necessary training as indicated and required. Exhibit individual and team resourcefulness and problem solving skills. CIAO designation must be successfully completed within one year of hire date.

Specific work skills must include:

·        Computer skills specifically Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word

·        Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

·        Outstanding customer service skills

·        Data collection, filing and retrieval skills

·        Valuation of real property

·        Read legal descriptions and locate property
