Reports to: VP Operations
General Responsibilities
Responsible for all company fabrication functions. Directly supervises all plant personnel.
Responsible for the plant safety program and all site maintenance. Responsibilities include personnel recruiting for all operating personnel, including development, training, and employee performance evaluations. Position maintains a strong relationship with the Quality Control Manager. This position is a key member of the Mason management staff.
Specific Responsibilities

Recruits, deploys, assigns and evaluates qualified operating personnel for the fabrication of assigned customer jobs and other assigned duties

Supervises Second Shift Supervisor and assigned shift operators

“Pulls” jobs into fabrication from upstream functions
-
Responsible for coordinating prefabrication meetings when new jobs are started in production

Responsible for final job inspection & release for shipping
-
Responsible for shipping completed jobs on time

Tracks and reports job fabrication progress in weekly Production Meeting or as needed for management analysis

Responsible for resolution of non-conformance issues identified by QC Manager including but not limited to training, employee counseling, and ensuring quality shipment of product

Responsible for controlling crib area supplies & replenishment from designated vendors

Provides key input in preparing & implementing CAPEX budgets, acquisition & implementation

Participates in job post mortems

Supervises Plant Maintenance personnel

Supervises Plant Safety Officer ensuring proper safety procedures are designated and followed

Responsible for company site maintenance, including ensuring proper care and maintenance of tools, equipment, vehicles, and grounds
Key Interfaces
-
Communicates directly with visiting customers, including designated customer quality inspectors

Communicates directly with internal personnel including engineering, purchasing, finance and administration

Communicates regularly with the Quality Control Manager

Works with Safety Officer to report to Safety Committee

Communicates regularly with Controller for personnel needs and leadership training
-
Communicates directly with sub-contractors and vendors in support of operations
Qualifications
-
Custom fabrication experience and knowledge in an ASME Code Section VIII code shop preferred
-
Demonstrated hands on custom fabrication experience with deep knowledge and welding experience and extensive experience in vessel fit up required

Demonstrated willingness to be hands on within the uniqueness of each custom job
-
Demonstrated strong aptitude for fabrication problem solving
-
Demonstrated ability and aptitude to anticipate to minimize or prevent problems
-
Experience managing welder, fitters and laborer in a custom fabrication operation
-
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple jobs and projects simultaneously in a custom setting
-
Strong managerial skills to organize and manage the fabrication team to reach its objectives
-
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication effectiveness, including hands on operator coaching
-
Strong analytical geometry skills

Working familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
