Provides leadership, education, and consultation to pre- and post-ostomy surgery patients and their caregivers; conducts research to improve outcomes. Plans and coordinates care for patients with complex wounds, fistulas pressure ulcers and shin problems related to fecal urinary incontinence or unusual needs.

• Must be a registered nurse licensed in the State of Illinois; must complete Wound Care Certification (WCC) or Ostomy Management Specialist Certification (OMS) within 12 months of hire.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience, hospital setting preferred.

• Provides leadership to staff caring for pre- and post-ostomy surgery patients
• Collaborates with directors and staff to identify and fill educational needs; teaches appropriate techniques
• Serves as a consultant to health care providers within the DMH Healthcare System and community regarding care of patients with new or existing ostomies, wounds, pressure ulcers and incontinency
• Conducts, utilizes, and supports research to improve outcomes for patients with ostomies, wounds, pressure ulcers, and incontinency.
• Plans and coordinates care for patients with complex and/or unusual needs, utilizing comprehensive clinical approach.
