Assistant Women's Wrestling Coach

The Assistant Women’s Wrestling Coach is a full-time position. Reporting to the Head Wrestling Coach, this position will assist the Millikin Wrestling program in all aspects, including recruiting, team development, home game management, day of competition coaching, fundraising and other duties common to a collegiate wresting program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in recruitment of quality wrestlers to the program. Help create a positive team culture that leads to success. Foster good relationships with the local high school coaches and the wrestling community.
- Responsible for assisting Head Wrestling Coach in all facets of the team, including the organization of practices, monitoring academic progress of the student-athletes, day of competition management and strategy.
- Comply with all applicable Millikin University, CCIW and NCAA rules, regulations, and policies.
- Monitor and promote academic progress and personal development of athletes.
- Collaborate with athletic training staff and strength and conditioning staff to ensure athlete health, safety, and injury prevention.
- Represent the women’s wrestling program positively within the university and the wider community.
- Attend and participate in meetings, clinics, and professional development opportunities.
- A second duty may be assigned dependent upon the candidate’s strengths and experience.
- Serve as Athletic Facility Monitor.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Maintaining professional performance, demeanor, team-approach and focus on results while working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous coaching experience
- Extensive knowledge of the sport of wrestling
- Excellent organization, interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively to various audiences.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team atmosphere in the Athletic Department
- Strong commitment to the University and NCAA Division III philosophy
- Demonstrate commitment to the academic and athletic success of the student-athlete.
