This includes the maintenance of electrical equipment, implementation of automation systems, and ensuring all operations comply with safety and quality standards. The role requires a hands-on leader capable of driving efficiency improvements through technology and innovation. This position reports directly to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management: Supervise and lead a team of electrical and programming technicians. Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Electrical Systems Maintenance: Ensure the reliability and functionality of all electrical systems, including power distribution, machine controls, and lighting systems.
- Automation and Programming: Develop, implement, and maintain automation solutions to improve efficiency and safety. Program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems for controlling foundry machinery and processes.
- Project Management: Oversee electrical and automation projects from conception through to completion. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with relevant safety standards and regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and promote a culture of safety within the team.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Establish a robust maintenance process based on best practice for the new Foundry. This person will serve as a valuable resource for the other members of the Foundry Project team as we implement equipment condition based as well as key operating variable monitoring. The candidate will also serve as an electrical equipment subject matter expert during the construction phase of the project.
Required Skills:
- Maintaining a safe work environment is priority one.
- Strong written / oral communication skills with prior experience in drafting maintenance procedures.
- Maintain a good working relationship with both internal and external resources in execution of tasks.
- Responsible for the education and strengthening of the team's knowledge and abilities.
- Responsible for development, coordination, and execution of training.
- Have the ability to anticipate and resolve maintenance/reliability related issues associated with phase one construction as well as equipment configuration and operation.
- Knowledge and ability to employ recognized best practices in the design and implementation of a maintenance strategy for newly acquired assets.
- Have knowledge of power distribution equipment as well as PLC and machinery diagnostic tools and report automation.
- Requirements
- Education: Preferred bachelor’s degree in business, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a foundry or other heavy industrial environment. Experience with foundry equipment and processes is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Profound knowledge of electrical systems, PLC programming, automation, and control systems. Familiarity with CAD software for electrical design is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a technical team.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and programming issues.
- Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
- Safety Knowledge: Deep understanding of safety standards and regulations applicable to electrical and industrial environments.
- Other Requirements
- Availability to work outside of standard office hours, if necessary, to support around-the-clock manufacturing operations.
- Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated with the latest technologies and practices in the field.
