THE OPPORTUNITY
The Electrical Systems Specialist may install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment in industrial settings, ensuring safe and efficient operation by following blueprints, codes, and safety procedures.
Installation & Maintenance
- Install electrical systems and equipment:
This includes wiring, conduit systems, and various electrical components.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems:
They perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and repair or replace faulty components.
- Interpret blueprints and schematics:
They use technical drawings to plan and execute electrical installations and repairs.
- Follow electrical codes and safety procedures:
They ensure compliance with national electrical codes and prioritize safety in all their work.
- Work with high-voltage systems:
May work with complex high-voltage systems, requiring specialized knowledge and training.
- Install and program electrical equipment:
May be involved in installing equipment like PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Troubleshoot electrical problems:
Asked to identify and diagnose electrical issues using various testing devices and tools.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures:
They use hand tools and power tools to repair or replace damaged or faulty electrical components.
- Conduct quality assurance measures and inspections:
They ensure that all electrical installations and repairs meet quality standards and safety regulations.
Other Duties:
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace:
They ensure that their work area is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Work individually or as part of a team:
May work independently or collaborate with other specialists and tradespeople.
- Model and analyze electrical systems:
May be required to model and analyze electrical systems to identify potential problems or optimize performance.
May be asked to keep records of electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs, including blueprints, schematics, and other relevant documents.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Climb stairs and ladders.
- Standing, climbing, kneeling is required for this role
- Will have to work in inclement weather from time to time
- Working from heights
Job Qualification
- Must have worked in an industrial Electrical work environment
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics
- Strong Electrical knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting
- Must have worked with Medium Voltage Systems
- Must have a strong Safety Culture Mindset
- HS Diploma
- knowledge: Deep understanding of electrical theory, electronics, and industrial safety codes (NFPA 70E).
- Technical Skill: Proficiency with troubleshooting tools, high-voltage equipment, and PLC programming.
- Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED, requiring completed apprenticeships or several years of experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
- Strong Problem/Troubleshooting skills
