Job Description
Richland Community College is seeking applicants for the Full-Time Electrical Systems Engineering Technology Instructor (Tenure-Track) position. The tenure-track faculty member is responsible for planning, preparing, implementing, teaching, and evaluating classroom and laboratory instruction in the areas of Electrical and Instrumentation that include motor controls, process controls, motion controls, PLC’s, etc. The successful candidate will use a learner-centered approach to teaching that incorporates active learning strategies and techniques to enhance student learning.

Primary duties include in-person classroom and online teaching; curriculum and course development; assessment of student learning; program promotion and student recruitment; and participation in college-wide initiatives. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and technology skills, the ability to work in teams, and the flexibility to teach day or evening hours at the College. Additionally, the candidate must be able to work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural environment. Other responsibilities include participating in assigned college committees and taskforces.

Opportunities for overload and summer teaching available.
This position begins Spring 2024.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of professional electrical systems engineering experience installing, maintaining, and repairing complex electrical systems used in process and manufacturing industrial environments or completion of an electrical apprenticeship and 5 years of journeyman experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or closely related field.
  • Teaching or training experience.
Physical Demands
  • Operates standard office equipment such as phone and computer on a frequent basis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Receives, processes, and provides visual and verbal information, including electronic communications.
  • Is available for occasional irregular hours and travel.
  • Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Salary Salary commensurate with education and experience, per the current collective bargaining agreement.
