Job Description | POSITION SUMMARY Provides direct services to students, faculty and library patrons. Processes inter-library loan requests through library cooperatives and consortiums. Conducts searches for materials in databases and cost-effective means of delivery. Manages the Illinois Libraries Delivery Service packets and meets delivery schedules. Keeps the course reserves collection updated and accessible. Assists with bookstack maintenance and general accessibility to library materials and services. Shares responsibility for patron assistance including room scheduling, circulation, and service desk procedures. |
Required Qualifications | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school or equivalent degree required. Working knowledge of personal computers and experience using word processing and spreadsheet software. Ex Libris Alma and OCLC experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience that ensures satisfactory performance of the essential job functions. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Detailed oriented and organized work habits. Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience and ability to work with the public in a variety of situations; ability to prioritize job responsibilities to meet deadlines; knowledge of digital databases and internet resources; strong research skills; and the ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees. Able to exercise sound judgment and consistently apply appropriate procedures. Ability to use online communications in a professional manner. |
Preferred Qualifications | Preferred Qualifications Associates degree preferred. Two years of related work experience preferred. |
Physical Demands | PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Provide timely response to externally/internally imposed conditions and deadlines. Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues. Able to lift 20 pounds. Manual dexterity; must be able to grasp and repeatedly handle materials such as books and packing materials. EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. An occasional weekend for student/staff orientations. Summer hours may vary. |
