Job Description
The EnRich Health Program Navigator serves as the main point of contact for prospective students considering a career path in healthcare inclusive of Essential Skills. The Navigator is to guide students through the enrollment process, and program completion process and provide additional connections to local healthcare providers for employment. The EnRich Health Program Navigator plays a key role in communicating EnRich’s vision and distinctiveness. The Navigator will help navigate healthcare students through their courses of studies communicating with faculty and staff to ensure students are successful and receiving the resources they need to eliminate barriers that may interfere with program completion.
Navigators cultivate relationships with both traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds. Navigators develop a sense of belonging through providing excellent service to prospective healthcare professionals during the recruitment and admissions process and throughout the program. Navigators serve as an intersection between Richland Community College, Healthcare Providers, and future healthcare professionals. This is a grant-funded position that is subject to change at the end of each fiscal year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Navigate students to and through EnRich’s Health Professions Programs at Richland Community College, including but not limited to the following activities:
  • Responsible for traveling to area High Schools to cultivate relationships with high school counselors and interested students.
  • Responsible for collaborating with community partners to identify prospective health programming participants through incumbent workers.
  • Guiding students through course selection in their chosen health careers.
  • Becoming and remaining current with school admission processes and requirements, school programs, majors, and courses, and developments in education and financial aid.
  • Organizing information events and other promotional opportunities for prospective participants.
  • Conducting interviews, reviewing application materials, and assisting students with the application process.
  • Arranging campus tours and conducting information sessions.
  • Developing and maintaining an active alumni network to plan events, and help students find employment.
  • The Navigator will utilize and maintain accurate data in software systems to allow for the development of all necessary reporting.
  • The Navigator will keep detailed records of all student contacts.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree preferred plus two years of experience providing student support services, developing or coordinating programming or community activities, or sales experience. Must possess strong organizational, customer service, and public speaking skills as well as current technology and computer skills. Must maintain a current Illinois Driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using software systems including, spreadsheets, report writing/database systems.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Must be willing to work beyond an 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work schedule to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. There may be irregular hours including weekend and/or evening hours. Summer hours may vary. This position is eligible for the alternative work arrangement after the 120-day probationary period has been successfully completed.

TRAVEL
Frequent travel to high schools, recruitment events, local events and/or meetings will be required. Participation at state or local meetings and/or conferences may require overnight travel.

RISK MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with daily supervision of the College division ensuring that the safety needs of faculty and students are communicated and met and that the risk is reduced by monitoring conditions, events, and circumstances present through daily operations in the accomplishment of job position tasks and functions.
Provide careful supervision and protection of the college’s real and personal property.
