Job Description | POSITION SUMMARY Food Service Workers will be responsible for cooking, cleaning, dishes, meal service, restocking, and customer service for the food service operations at the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center (MCLETC). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Cook food for cafeteria operations. Maintain a safe and sanitary work station, cafeteria, and kitchen while following proper sanitation procedures. Communicate menu and serving sizes to recruits, cadets, and staff. Multi-task serving, restocking, and dishes during service. Follow all proper procedures including, temperature logs, sanitation reports, waste logs etc. Perform other duties as assigned. |
Required Qualifications | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent plus 15 hours in Culinary Arts or related degree. Valid food handling license or willingness to obtain the license at the expense of the college. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to work effectively with coworkers, cafeteria guests. Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Must know basic cooking principles and proper sanitation techniques and have general knowledge about dietary restrictions & preparing special menu items for various diets. |
Preferred Qualifications | PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts or a related field preferred. Two years’ experience in culinary field preferred. Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification preferred. |
Physical Demands | PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations. Work is routinely performed in a kitchen environment walking between buildings making multiple trips. Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling, using hands and fingers, stooping, and occasional lifting of objects up to 50 lbs. Uniform required. Partially provided by the college. Employee furnishes themselves with non-slip shoes adequate for kitchen environments, and black chef pants, scrubs, or slacks. EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK Maximum 28 hours per week. Typical work hours are within Monday through Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. TRAVEL Occasional travel to various local off campus catering sites. |
