Job Description | POSITION SUMMARY The Dishwasher Associate is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for trays, plates, bowls, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, bowls, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures that designated work areas are maintains as clean, safe, and sanitary. This position is also responsible for putting clean dishes away in the kitchen and cafeterias, cafeteria restocking, and equipment cleaning. |
Required Qualifications | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid food handling license or willingness to obtain the license at the expense of the college. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Also, the ability to work effectively with coworkers, police recruits, corrections cadets, staff, guests, and catering clients. Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Must know proper sanitation techniques. |
Preferred Qualifications | PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification preferred. Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen preferred. |
Physical Demands | EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK 40 hours per week. Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Set up and breakdown of dishwashing areas. - Sort and rinse dirty dishes, silverware, trays, and cooking utensils. - Place rinsed items in racks to send through dishwashing machine. - Wash dishes by hand when required. - Allow dishes and other items to dry, then sort and stack clean dishes. - Push dishes by cart or drive dishes in golf cart to the cafeterias or proper storage places. - Put away food deliveries. - Change dish water in dishwashing machine or sinks as instructed. - Cleaning of dish machine and sinks. - Remove trash and recycling to dumpster - Sweep and mop floors - Conduct general cleaning and deep cleaning as directed - Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT - Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. - Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail and speed and accuracy with the ability to remain calm and resolve problems using good judgement. - Must maintain a high degree or pace and intensity for an extended period of time. - Work is performed in kitchen environment. Must be able to stand and walk for the entirety of shift. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, using hands and fingers, repetitive motions, climbing, stooping, listening and hearing ability, visual acuity, and consistent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs. - This role routinely uses sinks, dishwashers and tools to clean kitchen appliances. You will be consistently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals, and cleaning chemicals. - Uniform required. Partially provided by the college. Employee furnishes themselves with non-slip shoes adequate for kitchen environments, and black pants. |
