Job Description | The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program director/faculty member plans, prepares, implements, teaches, and evaluates classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction, and serves as academic advisor/coach for students. The person in this position participates in program development and evaluation and participates on College committees and activities as needed. Additionally, the EMS Program Director/Faculty member provides support and leadership for the EMS program and serves as liaison to Dean of Allied Health Professions and Nursing. |
Required Qualifications | MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS A bachelor’s degree in education or health-related discipline is required. A master’s degree is preferred. Valid Illinois Paramedic and EMS Lead Instructor licenses. A minimum of two years’ experience providing emergency medical services and two years’ experience teaching emergency medical services courses. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledgeable of methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students. Have field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care. Academic preparation related to emergency medical services at least equivalent to that of a paramedic. Knowledgeable of current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards and evidenced-informed clinical practice. |

Physical Demands | EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK Typical work hours are Monday through Friday with work times varying depending on teaching schedule, program direction duties, and College activities. There may be irregular hours periodically including evening hours for advisory meetings. Summer hours may vary. TRAVEL Travel to clinical sites for instruction and area high schools and local events for program recruitment. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
