Job Description | The Director of Nursing will provide leadership for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Practical Nursing (PN), and Nurse Assistant Aide (CNA) programs, including curriculum development, economic and workforce initiatives, initiating and realizing College projects, and fostering and strengthening community partnerships. |
Required Qualifications | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS The Director of Nursing must hold at least a master’s degree in nursing with documentation of preparation or experience in curriculum and teaching; and have at least four years of full-time nursing experience or the equivalent, of which two years must have been in patient care, and two years must have been as a Nurse Educator or administrative position in a nursing education program. Current, unencumbered state of Illinois License in Nursing. Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College’s culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to work effectively with teachers/faculty. Knowledge of accreditation, state requirements for the health care industry, current trends in the health professions, and College policies and procedures. Experience in curriculum development and program evaluation. Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Possess strong verbal, written, analytical skills, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Must be capable of adapting rapidly to a variety of situations. |

Physical Demands | EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed. There may be irregular hours periodically including weekend and/or evening hours for class observations, Board meetings, recruiting events, and program advisory committee meetings. Summer hours may vary. TRAVEL Travel to area high schools, local events, and health facilities to build relationships within the community. Quarterly travel within Illinois to attend nursing dean and directors’ meetings. Annual in or out-of-state travel to conferences for professional development and College service. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations. Provide timely response to externally/internally imposed conditions and deadlines. Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues. |
Salary | Pay Grade E-14: Minimum starting salary, $78,849.56/year |
