Job Description | Responsible for recruiting, retention, and success transitioning strategies for various trades programs in the Decatur community. Students (ages 16-24) will receive help with career and academic goal setting along with assistance with essential skills, learning strategies, study habits, time management, and organization. Instruction will include essential skills to new students within adult education (AE) and general adult education and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. This is a grant-funded position and is subject to continued funding. |
Required Qualifications | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS An Associate’s degree with two years of career/job skills or similar experience. Two years of teaching or retention experience in an academic setting preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team; and ability to work with students with multiple barriers, including financial, academic and work/life balance. |
Preferred Qualifications | PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree preferred. |
Physical Demands | EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed. Summer hours may vary. This position maybe eligible for an alternative work schedule after the probationary period has been successfully completed. TRAVEL Travel for professional development, local meetings and visits to job sites will be required. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations. Must be able to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information. Provide timely response to externally imposed conditions and deadlines Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues. |
