Job Description
Position Summary
Richland Community College is seeking a qualified individual to become the Skilled Trades Specialist for its Pre-Apprenticeship program through its Workforce Development Division. The Specialist would be expected have the ability to relate with the diverse populations that they will be serving. The Specialist will assist pre-apprentices with the transition from the pre-apprenticeship training program to a Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program. The Specialist may also provide classroom instruction in a variety of areas with in their expertise and qualifications. This position will encompass a variety of duties, all of which help serve, develop and achieve success for the program and its participants. This is a grant-funded position and is subject to continued funding.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Establish, develop, and maintain meaningful relationships with the Decatur Building & Construction Trades Council
· Coordinating pre/post-apprenticeship placements for students once the course is successfully completed.
· Reporting and data entry for the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship program. Attends and participates in local union meetings with the Skilled Trades Training Coordinator
· Assist Coordinator with documenting program completion for each student; maintain accurate employment records of program graduates.
· Assist in providing training where needed in the pre-apprenticeship training program including The Building Trades’ Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3).
· Serve as Transition Liaison for the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Grant
· Make phone calls to pre-screen program applicants
· Check employment status of all graduates every 90 days up to 1 year.
· Assist in training instructors new to the program
· Participate in program recruitment
· Assist the skills trade coordinator in all workforce development programs
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the Building Trades Industry
· Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
· Minimum of 1 year administrative experience
Preferred Qualifications
· Associates degree plus 1-3 years of experience
· Credentials and certifications in various construction fields and/or OSHA fields.
· Possess a Journeyman Card through a nationally recognized labor union

Physical Demands
· Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
· Must be able to travel locally as needed for training, conferences and/or recruitment.
Salary E-9 (minimum $44,481.72)
