Job Description
Position Summary
Richland Community College is seeking applicants for the Full-Time Networking Technology Instructor (Tenure-Track) position. The tenure-track faculty member is responsible for planning, preparing, implementing, teaching, and evaluating classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of Network Technology that includes Cisco CCNA Certification and COMPTIA Certification. The successful candidate will use a learner-centered approach to teaching that incorporates active learning strategies and techniques to enhance student learning. The position will require updating curriculum to reflect changing technologies in the industry and in education.


Essential Functions
  • Participates in course development, implementation, and evaluation consistent with the program’s philosophy, objectives, and conceptual framework.
  • Participates in curriculum development and evaluation including planning, implementation, and evaluation of a course or learning level.
  • Provides current, organized instruction in classroom and other teaching environments (if applicable) utilizing sound, comprehensive principles.
  • Supervises and evaluates student learning in the classroom and other teaching environments (as applicable).
  • Cooperates and collaborates with other college Divisions to meet students’ learning needs and objectives.
  • Provides a climate that is conducive for learning for students.
  • Participates in College, Division, program, and course assessment activities for programs, courses, and institutional initiatives, including the recommendations of goals, methods, and quality indicators.
  • Participates in Division meetings.


Required Qualifications
· Associate’s degree in Information Technology and a year of experience in the industry; OR
· Five (5) years of recent experience in the networking field.
· Specialized certifications in the field to be taught may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.
· Specialized certifications that align with Richland classes to be taught.
· Teaching or training experience


Preferred Skills and Abilities
· Recent experience in computer networking technology or cybersecurity
· Industry certifications in Information Technology or Cybersecurity
· Knowledge of local area networking, routing, and switching technologies
· Knowledge of operating systems including Windows Server and Linux
· Experience teaching in the online classroom and in “non-traditional” settings to students
· Experience in curriculum development and assessment
· Experience with Canvas and teaching online and in hybrid environment
· Experience teaching community college or adult learning environments and with diverse populations
· Experience with multi-media technology to enhance student learning
Physical Demands
  • Operates standard office equipment such as phone and computer on a frequent basis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Receives, processes, and provides visual and verbal information, including electronic communications.
  • Is available for occasional irregular hours and travel.
  • Must be able to work effectively in stressful situations.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Salary Salary range: $44,738-$95,241 per year
