| The Developmental Education Support Specialist provides targeted academic support for students enrolled in developmental English and Math courses, with a focus on accelerated eight-week course models. Working in close collaboration with faculty, embedded tutors, success coaches, and Project READ Plus staff, this position delivers in-class and individualized assistance designed to strengthen foundational literacy and math skills, improve student retention, and promote timely progression to college-level coursework. The Support Specialist plays a key role in connecting students with real-time academic support, addressing learning barriers early, and contributing to institutional goals of student persistence, completion, and engagement. Position may include facilitating Student Development courses, as assigned by supervisor. This position is grant funded and is subject to additional funding beyond March 2026.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provide in-class and individualized academic support for students enrolled in developmental English and Math courses. Facilitates collaborative efforts between Academic Success Center Director, Accommodations Specialist, Student Success, Testing Specialist, faculty, and other members of the college community. Collaborate with faculty, tutors, and Project READ Plus staff to ensure effective academic support. Connect students with success coaching, and other campus or community resources to address academic and personal needs. Monitor and track student attendance, engagement, and outcomes; collect and analyze data, prepare reports, and make budget recommendations to support program evaluation and improvement. Deliver presentations and training on learning strategies, English/Math skills, and student success practices for individuals, groups, and the college community to support success and retention. Assesses outcomes for student participants. Assist faculty and advisors by sharing success strategies, resources, and student-specific feedback to promote persistence and progression to college-level coursework. May facilitate Student Development courses. Manage administrative functions such as payroll, supplies, and technology or maintenance requests to ensure smooth program operations. Perform other related duties as assigned. |
