| Job Description | Evaluates, develops, and promotes instructional design in support of the teaching and learning needs of the College. Works directly with Teaching & Learning Center staff to ensure accessibility and universal design best practices are met and that faculty are provided high quality support and assistance. Responsible for providing faculty support regarding instructional design, supportive technologies, and LMS usage. Facilitates new instructor training, professional development sessions, and provides troubleshooting of technical problems related to the delivery of course content. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain fluency in the Canvas learning management system (LMS) and third-party technology functionality, features, and tools. Collaborate with other departments on college-wide initiatives and committee work related to teaching and learning. Provide training, design, and assistance to faculty in the application of universal design best practices and supportive technologies for courses of all modalities. Stay up to date on Canvas updates, emerging technologies, and instructional design advancements. Facilitate new faculty training. Facilitate professional development related to instructional design and instructional technology. Collaborate with Director to ensure research-based best practices in course delivery are consistently utilized in all activities. Assist with quality assurance course reviews and provides support for needed revisions. Assist with identifying and resolving challenges related to technology and online delivery of learning content. Keep up with current trends and emerging developments in educational technologies, including generative artificial intelligence (AI). Collaborate with Teaching & Learning Center staff to delivery faculty and staff trainings pertaining to the use, development, and implementation of educational technologies, including the integration of generative AI. Participate as an active member of the Online Taskforce and other College committees and taskforces as needed. Assist faculty and Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA) Committee with the use of Canvas Outcomes to measure cross-disciplinary outcomes. Maintain positive and effective communications with students, faculty, administration, and staff. Perform other duties as assigned. |
| Required Qualifications | A Master’s degree in a related field of study is required, along with a minimum of 2-5 years of teaching experience in higher education. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in learning technologies and instructional design across multiple modalities. Experience in new instructor training, faculty development, and the promotion of effective teaching and learning practices are essential. 2-5 years of experience with academic learning management systems (preferably Canvas) is required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to support universal design best practices and uphold accessibility and equity in faculty support. Ability to facilitate training of new instructors and professional development sessions. Ability to work with computer software programs for online learning management systems and other software programs. Ability to troubleshoot basic computer issues. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to work effectively with students, faculty, and TLC staff. Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Possess strong knowledge of instructional design principles. |
