Role Responsibilities

T/CCI is looking to grow our Decatur, IL based Engineering organization. In support of our growth and new market opportunities, the Company is seeking to hire a Engineering Lab Technician I to support our Decatur operation. This role is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the engineering lab by performing basic technical tasks, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and organized work environment. This role provides an opportunity to develop foundational skills in instrumentation, test setup, and equipment operation under the guidance of senior technicians and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow safety guidelines and report safety concerns.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspace, adhering to 5S guidelines.
  • Perform basic instrumentation tasks such as handling thermocouples, pressure transducers and RTDs.
  • Assist with system recovery, charging, flushing, and understanding refrigerant properties.
  • Create and update test recipes on PC and perform initial test setup.
  • Operate durability test benches and generate test reports.
  • Assist with fabrication tasks, including plumbing, electrical wiring, and creating test fixtures.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Use Microsoft Office for data plotting and report generation.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, teamwork, communication, and attention to detail,

Key Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in automotive or related field
  • Basic knowledge of lab safety, instrumentation, and A/C systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Fundamental fabrication, electrical, and mechanical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with calibration
  • Mechanical systems experience

Education

Associate's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required
