Role Responsibilities
T/CCI is looking to grow our Decatur, IL based Engineering organization. In support of our growth and new market opportunities, the Company is seeking to hire a Engineering Lab Technician II to support our Decatur operation. This role is a mid-level position that builds on the foundational skills acquired in Engineering Technician I role. This position involves more complex technical tasks, including advanced instrumentation, test operations, and equipment calibration. The Engineering Technician II is expected to work safely, independently, resolve issues, assist test engineers, provide accurate test results, and contribute to process improvements within the lab.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and maintain certifications (e.g., MACS 609, ASE xEV Level Two).
- Maintain clean and uncluttered workspace, ensuring well-organized tool carts and cabinets.
- Follow 5S guidelines.
- Perform system recovery/charging, system flushing, and good understanding refrigerant properties (SubCool, SuperHeat).
- Work with high voltage systems and wiring power supply.
- Perform advanced instrumentation tasks with thermocouples, pressure transducers, RTD, accelerometers and flowmeters.
- Perform OCR measurements.
- Install/update recipes in PC and PLC
- Operate calorimeter and assist system bench setup.
- Perform equipment calibration and generate reports.
- Conduct advanced NVH measurements (sound pressure level, vibration, sound power).
- Perform advanced calibration tasks on EC and Belt-driven durability test benches.
- Perform advanced fabrication tasks, including sheet metal work and electrical wiring.
- Work on advanced vehicle systems (powertrain, cooling, electrical/charging).
- Perform troubleshooting and advanced equipment maintenance and repair.
- Proficient in CAN Bus protocol and basic PLC operations.
Key Qualifications
- 2-4 years of automotive experience or in a related field required.
- Intermediate knowledge of instrumentation, calibration, and DAQ systems preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of refrigerant air conditioning systems.
- Advanced fabrication, electrical, and mechanical skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with PLCs and CAN Bus protocol.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with calibration
- Mechanical systems experience
Education
Associate's degree or equivalent technical training required.
